Miskolc Gems

Miskolc is not just a destination rich in experiences but also a home to unique stories, traditions, and treasures. The Miskolc Local Value Repository was established to preserve and showcase these, based on the 2012 law on Hungarian national values and Hungarikums, as well as the related government decree, initiated by the Municipality of Miskolc City with County Rights.

Since 2013, the ever-expanding collection now presents 68 local values across eight exciting categories: from gastronomy and built heritage to industrial specialties, cultural and sports values, as well as natural treasures, tourism, hospitality, and values related to a healthy lifestyle.

The Value Repository serves as a guide to Miskolc's diverse world: helping to uncover the city's lesser-known treasures, understand its past, appreciate its traditions, and connect with everything that truly makes it Miskolc. By showcasing local values, it not only enhances the city's appeal but also strengthens the Miskolc identity and local pride.

The collection is part of a national value-preserving initiative, creating opportunities for Miskolc's outstanding values to gain wider recognition. Among the national values included in the Hungarian Value Repository, some may later become Hungarikums – meaning one of Miskolc's unique treasures could one day become a source of pride for the entire country.
